President’s Address to Students
On Tuesday, Sept. 8, the President will address the nation’s school children via a live broadcast at 10 a.m. (Denver time). The speech will be carried live on the White House Web site and on CSPAN. According to the White House, the intent of the speech is to encourage students to work hard, set educational goals and take responsibility for their learning. School districts across the country have been asked to make the speech available to students.
The decision about whether or not to show the speech is a school-based and classroom-based decision. Parents who do not want their child to view the speech should contact the school directly; alternate activities will be provided for students who opt out if their classroom is showing the speech. All classroom activities related to the President’s speech must be tied to the district’s curriculum and standards.

总统对学生们的演讲
9月8日周二，美国总统将在早10点（丹佛时间）对全国的学生们做直播讲演。这次演说将通过白宫网站和CSPAN现场转播。根据白宫发言人，演讲的动机是鼓励孩子们发奋努力，定下自己的教育目标，为自己的学习负起责任。全国各个学区被要求为学生们提供听讲的机会。
但是否让学生听这个演讲由每个学校和班级自行决定。家长如果不希望让孩子听这次演讲可以直接和学校联系。学校将为那些教室播放演讲，但决定不听演讲的学生提供其他活动。所有在总统演讲时间内的课堂活动都必须符合学区规定的教学大纲和标准。
